Engineered Stone Benchtops

Stone By Design | Auckland

Stone by Design Limited is a privately owned New Zealand business. With combined experience of over 25 years in the stone industry, we are passionate about Engineered Stone and want to help you achieve a striking finished product to your kitchen.

Our process; we use the latest digital templating technology which allows us to obtain accurate measurements for your benchtop. The CAD drawing our laser produces will show any bumps or notches in your walls, resulting in a benchtop that follows these lines and fits like a glove.

How It Works

Technology

We use a combination of the GMM Extra 37 Bridge Saw and Techni WaterJet with PAC60 rotating head to cut and prepare your benchtops for fabricating. These state of the art computerised machines allow us to get millimetre accuracy measurements ensuring quality finishes for our highly skilled fabricators to then complete.

Quick Turnaround.

From template to install, you can expect a 5-10 working day turnaround on all Engineered Stone benchtops, regardless of thickness. If you choose to use the new Ultra Compact Surfaces, due to the more complex requirements of working with this product, you will be looking at a 10-15 working day turnaround.

It doesn’t just stop at kitchen benchtops, we can help you out with vanity tops, fire hearths, fire mantles, table tops and lots more!

Why Engineered Stone

Engineered Stone is the world’s fastest growing material for kitchen benchtops. Upgrading to an Engineered Stone benchtop can increase the value of your house much more than the cost of the benchtop itself.

With a wide range of colours available, you will be sure to find something that works with your desired colour scheme, and we are here and happy to assist you in this process.

Engineered Stone is made up of 91-97% natural quartz, which is then bonded together using resins. The nature of the process

Most Engineered Stones will come in 20mm and 30mm thickness. Using a MR MDF substrate we are able to mitre the 20mm product up to achieve (almost) any thickness you require.

Why Ultra Compact Surfaces

Ultra Compact Surfaces are a growing trend in today’s marketplace. With their high resistance to scratching, stains, heat and abrasion their growing popularity is evident. Millions of dollars have been spent in research and development of Dekton and Neolith and the result is unprecedented. Want to stand out from the crowd?

Mitigating the Risk of Silicosis

The health and safety of our team, customers and community is our highest priority. Our stone processing plant has everything in place to reduce airborne RCS and the resulting risk of developing Silicosis. For the vast majority of fabrication, we chose to use Porcelain stone with a very low silica content. Where engineered stone is required, our factory is equipped with the most up-to-date dust extraction and suppression systems, enabling us to operate well within best practice guidelines for stone fabrication. The risk of Silicosis is real, but we are leading the way in its mitigation.
